About Me

I’m Jill, and in many ways, I feel I’ve been a doula my entire life. My journey began at five years old when my mother opened an in home daycare. Surrounded by babies and young children, I developed an early love for nurturing others, a passion that grew as I started babysitting at eight years old (it was the 80’s!). Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many friends family members through their births and postpartum periods, and then experienced the profound transformation of my own three births.

Through these experiences, I became captivated by the physiological beauty of birth, the incredible power women exhibit and the awe-inspiring moment that a baby enters the world. Caregiving has always come naturally to me, and now, with my own children grown, I am able to fully commit to serving women and families in my community during one of life’s most meaningful transitions.

With more than 25 years of hands-on experience and a deep passion for birth and postpartum care, Doula Born provides compassionate, evidence-informed support for expectant parents in SE Michigan.

My Philosophy

Women are powerful. Birth is instinctual. And at its heart, it is not a medical emergency, it is a natural, physiological process that women's bodies were beautifully designed for.

Over the decades I've spent witnessing birth, what I've come to trust deeply is not fear-based care, but women themselves. Their capacity, their intuition, and their strength when they feel truly informed, respected, and supported.

Somewhere along the way, modern maternity care began teaching women to doubt their bodies. Risk is emphasized. Decisions are rushed. Consent becomes a formality rather than a conversation.

I believe you deserve better than that.

Birth deserves context, not coercion. Understanding, not pressure. Choices that are truly yours.

My work is for women who want to feel informed without being frightened, and supported without being told what to do. You already have everything you need. I'm just here to help you trust it.
